Is polyaluminum chloride (PAC) actually available in six colors? What's the difference between them

The polyaluminum chloride sold in the market is quite diverse because each manufacturer has different production processes and raw materials, and the colors produced are also slightly different. Generally, there are six colors of polyaluminum chloride: white, light yellow, golden yellow, brown, brown, and coffee. Below are the differences in the six different colors and their uses.

1. White polyaluminum chloride

A newly developed new type of water purification material, specialized in purifying water for food, drinking water, urban water supply, precision manufacturing, papermaking industry, medicine, sugar refining, cosmetic additives, daily chemical industry, etc. It has a very wide range of applications with high purity and high price.

2. Light yellow polyaluminum chloride

The medium to high series products, second only to white polyaluminum chloride, are mainly used for drinking water treatment, with strict restrictions on heavy metal content. Especially for the drinking water grade polyaluminum chloride products we produce, the water treated with it is clear and free of precipitation. The AL2O3 content is around 30 (± 0.5), with fine powder, uniform particles, good flocculation effect, efficient and stable purification, low dosage, and low cost. It is a water treatment flocculant specially used by major water plants for long-term cooperation.

3. Golden colored polyaluminum chloride

Polyaluminum chloride is widely used in the market as an efficient flocculant for wastewater treatment, with good flocculation effect. Therefore, it is a good choice for industrial water supply, industrial wastewater, industrial water circulation, and urban wastewater treatment.

4. Brown, brown, coffee colored polyaluminum chloride

It is a water treatment product produced to meet the special requirements of certain customers for water treatment. Its iron content is higher than other polyaluminum chloride product series, so its color is darker than golden yellow. It is highly effective for treating low temperature, low turbidity, and high algae wastewater, mainly used for the purification of drinking water, urban water supply, industrial water supply, and other aspects.

Precautions for operating storage

1. In terms of operation, the water purification process of polyaluminum chloride is generally divided into three stages. These three stages are the coagulation stage, flocculation stage, and sedimentation stage. During the coagulation stage, when the liquid medicine is injected into the coagulation container and rapidly coagulates with the raw water, fine alum flowers will form in a very short period of time. At this time, the water becomes even more turbid, which requires the water flow to generate intense turbulence. Then polyaluminum chloride enters the flocculation stage, which is the process of alum growth and coarsening, requiring appropriate turbulence level and sufficient residence time (10-15 minutes). In the later stage, a large amount of alum can be observed to aggregate and slowly sink, forming a clear surface layer.

When the flocculant is in the settling stage, it is the process of settling the flocculants in the settling tank, which requires slow water flow. To improve efficiency, inclined tubes or plate settling devices are generally used. A large amount of coarse alum flowers are blocked by the inclined tube (plate) wall and deposited at the bottom of the tank. The upper layer of water is clear water, and the remaining alum flowers with small particle size and low density slowly descend while continuing to collide with each other, until the residual turbidity remains basically unchanged in the later stage.

2. Polyaluminum chloride must be stored in a dry, moisture-proof, and heat-resistant place (<80 ℃, do not damage the packaging, the product can be stored for a long time).

3. Polyaluminum chloride products must be dissolved before use, and the dissolution equipment and dosing facilities should use corrosion-resistant materials.

4. The effective storage period of liquid products of polyaluminum chloride is 6 months, and the effective storage period of solid products is 2 years. Solid products can still be used after being damp.
